The city of Lincoln’s annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony will be held this Saturday, December 7, at Auld Pavilion in Antelope Park, 1650 Memorial Drive. The event will begin at 11:55 a.m. to coincide with the time of the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941.

The Veterans Memorial Garden Advisory Council are once again organizing the event, this year featuring welcome remarks by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and Pat Studts, daughter of a Pearl Harbor survivor. Studts will share remarks about her father, SSgt Arthur Gersib, who served at the Schoefield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii.

The Presentation of the Colors will be conducted by the Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska Honor Guard. Featured musicians include the Lincoln Continentals Quartet and Kevin Murray. Danette Matty will deliver the invocation and benediction.

Pearl Harbor memorabilia, provided by Jason Grof, will also be displayed. Grof’s grandfather served on the USS Effingham at Pearl Harbor shortly after the December 7 attack.

Accessible parking is available on the north side of the Auld Pavilion. For information about the Veterans Memorial Garden, visit lincoln.ne.gov/veteransgarden.
