A Lincoln man has been arrested after a pursuit that followed a domestic disturbance in Lancaster County.  Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says just before 11:00 p.m. Saturday the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office notified NSP that a suspect had fled a reported assault and was believed to be driving a Ford F-150.

“A few minutes later, a trooper located the vehicle as it was driving westbound without lights on Highway 6 near Greenwood,” Thomas says.  “The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and fled with speeds over 100 miles per hour.”

The NSP AirWing took over the pursuit from the air and the trooper did not give chase on the ground.  “NSP pilots tracked the suspect vehicle as it proceeded north of Lincoln on county roads,” Thomas says. “Another trooper was able to successfully deploy stop sticks as the suspect drove southbound on 14th Street near Raymond Road.”

Thomas says the suspect, 45-year-old Mikhail Bondarchuk continued at slow speeds, still refusing to stop. A trooper then performed a pit maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop.  Bondarchuk was then taken into custody without further incident.  Thomas says troopers found a handgun and ammunition inside the vehicle.

Bondarchuk was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving and possession of a deadly weapon while committing a felony. He was booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
