Three Lincoln Police officers were injured during a confrontation with a man inside the America’s Best Value Inn hotel at 56th and Cornhusker just before 3:00 Wednesday morning. Captain Todd Kocian tells KLIN News officers were called there for a man and woman yelling at each other.
Officers spoke with the 53-year-old woman who said 29-year-old Thony Greene Jr was refusing to leave her hotel room. Kocian says the hotel manager verified Greene was not on the room reservation and wanted him to leave.
“Officers contacted Greene who initially refused officers commands at which time an officer grabbed his right arm,” Kocian says. “A struggle ensued and a taser was unsuccessfully deployed. Greene then grabbed a metal broom and raised it as if he was going to throw it at officers who again deployed a taser unsuccessfully.”
Kocian says Greene then flipped a table over and briefly hid behind it before charging at officers who deployed a taser causing Greene to momentarily fall to the ground. He says Greene immediately began to get back up.
“Officers attempted to take Greene into custody and during the struggle Greene bit one officer on the finger, scratched another officer in the face and kicked the third officer in the lower leg,” Kocian says.
Greene was arrested and booked for three counts of 3rd degree assault on an officer, resisting arrest and criminal trespassing.
