No. 25 Nebraska quickly bounced back from Friday’s loss at Creighton with an 84-38 win over Kansas City Tuesday Night at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Five players scored in double figures for the Huskers (6-1), led Callin Hake, who tallied a career-high five three-pointers en route to scoring 16 points. Alexis Markowski extended her school record for career double-doubles with the 43rd of her career after scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Hake was the spark in a 12-2 run to start that the game that removed the drama from the contest. She knocked down a pair of threes, part of a 12-for-29 night for Nebraska shooting from beyond the arc. Fellow guards Britt Prince and Alberte Rimdal also reached double figures, scoring 13 and 15 points, respectively.
The Huskers’ defense was stifling during the game, holding the Roos (2-5) to just 21.7 percent shooting and just 1-for-14 from beyond the arc. Kansas City connected for just two assists during the game as well while committing 22 turnovers. The great defense helped Nebraska overcome a season-low 37.9 percent from the field, though Nebraska was decent beyond the three-point line and hit 22-of-28 free throws.
The Huskers now prepare for a matchup against Lindenwood on Tuesday at 7 p.m., the final non-conference tune-up for Nebraska before its conference opener Dec. 8 against Minnesota.
