Two Lincoln men were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on I-80 near Ogallala late Saturday night. The Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper stopped a Jeep for speeding around 10:00 p.m. and detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle troopers found 29 pounds of marijuana in a large black duffle bag. 27-year-old Anthony Lewis and 31-year-old Demitrius De Shun were taken into custody and booked for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana more than one pound. Both men were taken to the Keith County Jail.
In a separate traffic stop troopers found more than 30 pounds of cocaine. NSP says on Saturday around 8:45 a.m. a trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2023 Acura MDX for improper passing. During the stop, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.
A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 33 pounds of cocaine in a hidden compartment. 34-year-old Raquel Rocha and 45-year-old Jonathan Cardenas of New Jersey were arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, and child abuse without injury.
Both were taken to the Hamilton County Jail. The child in the vehicle was placed in protective care.
