Christmas Tree Exhibit at Gateway Mall to Benefit Homeless

A festive gallery of decorative Christmas Tree’s will soon prop up at Lincoln’s Gateway Mall for the 14th annual Starry Nights Christmas Tree Festival to benefit the People’s City Mission (PCM).

Each year, this is PCM’s largest community event and fundraiser. During the ‘2024 Walk Through the Trees’ show the community will be treated to thirteen elaborate designer-decorated full-sized and small Christmas trees sponsored by local businesses and churches. Trees will be available for viewing on November 27th, 29th, 30th, and December 1st at Gateway Mall (6100 O St.).

This event is free to the public. Pastor Tom Barber, President and CEO of Peoples City Mission, says this event is a way of saying thank you to Lincoln for all the support through the year.

A behind the scenes sneak peek of designers as they set up and decorate their trees in the commons area of Gateway Mall will be available on Tuesday, Nov. 26th.

A Christmas Market with designer decorated wreaths, door hangers and locally hand-poured candles will be available near the thirteen featured Christmas trees, which will be auctioned off in an online silent auction in which anyone can participate. Proceed from the shop and auction go to support PCM. The small trees at the event are also for sale.

A Christmas photo booth will be present and an area where kids can write and mail Letters to Santa. There will also be live entertainment each day, with several local dance and music groups.

Another way to donate: The Be Kind Tree, full of ornaments for purchase – each one providing for practical needs of the homeless – such as a new toy, a night of lodging, a box of diapers, a meal, etc.
