Just before 1:30 Monday morning police were called to Lincoln Vapor near 27th and Fairfield on a report of two people breaking into the business. “Officers determined two men wearing black hooded sweatshirts and carrying backpacks broke the front glass door and entered the business,” says LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas.
She says they took about $2,000 worth of vape products before getting into a vehicle and driving away. This was far from the first vape shop burglary this year. “In 2024, there have been fourteen burglaries and three attempted burglaries of nine separate vape shop businesses across Lincoln,” Thomas says.
Six of those seventeen have come since October 15 with the persons responsible typically breaking the glass of the front door or side windows to enter. “The total damage so far has been estimated at $25,000 with $9,000 worth of product lost,” Thomas says.
Four of the cases have been cleared with the arrests of juveniles and the rest are still being investigated. Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
