Nebraska sophomore guard Natalie Potts will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, she announced on social media Wednesday.
Potts, who had been the Huskers’ leading scorer as NU built a 4-0 start and moved up to No. 21 in the AP poll, suddenly crumpled to the ground midway through the second quarter Tuesday night as Nebraska defeated North Alabama. Potts had to be helped from the floor and later returned to the arena on crutches.
Potts earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors in 2023-24, averaging 10.2 points per game as the Huskers advanced to the Big Ten Tournament final and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Potts is likely to qualify for a medical redshirt, allowing her to retain three years of eligibility. Nebraska is next in action Friday at 4 p.m. at Creighton.
