The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office was notified early Sunday morning about a possible mountain lion sighting one mile east of Bennet, just south of 176th and Bennet Road. Sheriff’s deputies contacted the person who made the report.
They said they awoke to their trail camera notification around 3:00 a.m. and heard what they thought was an owl screeching on the camera. The sheriff’s office says upon further review of the footage, a large mountain lion was observed on their trail camera approximately 50 yards north of their residence.
Deputies inspected the area where the trail camera was located and found large paw prints in the mud in the surrounding area. The mountain lion was not located on the property. A video was also captured but is not yet available.
