No. 21 Nebraska women’s basketball dominated in an 84-58 victory over Southern Tuesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Natalie Potts turned in a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Alexis Markowski led the Huskers (3-0) with 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting.
NU dominated every statistical category, outshooting the Jaguars (0-4) 49 percent to 37, attempting 36 free throws to SU’s 10, outrebounding them 46-26 while outscoring them in the paint, 44-24. Southern assembled a 6-0 run midway through the first quarter to take a 13-11 lead, but the Huskers didn’t allow another point in the quarter and tallied four points in a row to take a 15-13 lead through one period. An 8-0 to close the half opened Nebraska’s lead to 36-26 at the intermission, and another 8-0 run to close the third quarter grew the Huskers’ lead to 18, 61-43.
Britt Prince returned to the lineup after a one-game absence and scored six points on 2-for-5 shooting in 24 minutes of action. Southern was led by the 22 points of Aniya Gourdine. She was 9-for-15 shooting.
