There’s less pain at the pump in Nebraska. AAA spokesman Brian Ortner says across the state the average is $2.84 a gallon, down about six cents from a week ago and fifteen cents lower over last month.
Ortner says at this time last year Nebraskans were paying 3.22 a gallon. Ortner says one of the biggest contributors is the market price. “We’re looking at the markets today and a barrel of crude oil is trading below $70, which transfers to savings at the pump for our consumers.”
Ortner says supply and demand also factors into gas prices. “We’re at mid-November and we’re lucky with the weather,” Ortner. “We haven’t had any snow to decrease demand, so demand really hasn’t been affected too much.”
