The City of Lincoln paused Monday morning for a Veterans Day ceremony at Auld Pavilion in Antelope Park. “We remember he 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month 1918 when the hostilities of World War I formally concluded,” said Lincoln City Council member Sandra Washington.
“For all who answered the call to serve our country, for all the families who shared in their sacrifice and for all of the veterans who continue to serve their families and communities, thank you.” The ceremony featured the ringing of the Liberty Bell and a moment of silence and the playing of Taps for all service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Lincoln High School teacher Brian Goodbrake and students Jacklyn Alles and Eliana Genis Frank discussed their summer trip to Normandy in honor of the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
