A federal parole absconder is facing drug charges after being arrested Thursday afternoon near 31st and Holdrege. LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says 37-year-old Derek Spurlock had an active arrest warrant and was seen getting into a vehicle outside of a home.
She says he was taken into custody without incident. Inside a backpack in his possession, officers found nearly one pound of methamphetamine, nearly a half a pound of psilocybin mushrooms, drug paraphernalia and $341 in cash.
“A search of the vehicle recovered more meth along with cocaine, MDMA, mushrooms, marijuana and paraphernalia,” Thomas says. A search of his hotel room recovered more drugs and paraphernalia.
“We want to commend our Narcotics Task Force for getting these drugs off the streets of Lincoln,” Thomas says. Spurlock was taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for possession with intent to deliver meth and psilocybin mushrooms.
