Nebraska Democrats Back to Drawing Board After Tuesday’s Election

By Tom Stanton Nov 6, 2024 | 2:43 PM

Following Tuesday night’s election that saw Nebraska Republicans winning all five federal races on the ballot, the chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party says more needs to be done to win at the congressional and state level.

“Our party has work to do,” Kleeb says.  “Clearly, the major issues that shape our party, including public schools, paid sick leave, and medical marijuana, voters are on our side. However, we acknowledge Republican party loyalty in partisan races is a hurdle that continues to be in front of us.”

Voters re-elected U.S. Senators Pete Ricketts and Deb Fisher and U.S. Representatives Don Bacon, Mike Flood and Adrian Smith.  “We are proud of the candidates that both won and those that did not make it over the finish line,” Kleeb says.

“This past election cycle has been grueling. Volunteers, party staff, and voters gave it their all to deliver the results we had all hoped for, which was finally sending a woman to the White House and Sen. Vargas to Congress.”

She says they are proud that they were able to deliver the blue dot for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.  “We will continue to work on registering voters, being present in the community and delivering results at the local level to build trust with voters in order to win at the Congressional and statewide level.”
