Lincoln Police are looking for suspects in a bizarre robbery case Sunday morning. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says around 8:00 a man got a text saying his vehicle was in a crash and needed to be towed.
“The victim verified his vehicle was fine and called back the person making the claim, who said they were with Park & Go,” Thomas says. “As the victim entered his building, a man dressed in all black tackled him from behind and his wallet fell to the ground.”
Thomas says the man then took off running north from 8th and ‘R’ Streets. A woman then approached the victim as he was gathering his belongings and offered to help. “She then picked up $2,000-$3,000 in cash that had spilled out of the victim’s wallet, ran to a grey SUV and drove off south on 8th,” Thomas says.
Anyone with information that could help investigators is encouraged to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475- 3600.
