Lincoln Police Searching for Snack Shoplifters, Man who Threatened Clerk

By Chase Porter Oct 30, 2024 | 6:00 AM

Lincoln Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help in identifying a duo who swiped snacks at a movie theatre and a man who made threatening statements towards a gas station clerk.

The first case occurred around on October 8, 2024, at the Marcus South Pointe Cinema near South 27th and Pine Lake Road.

Video Forensics Technician for the Lincoln Police Department Becky Keller says two male individuals, ages unknown, began helping themselves to some snacks at the concession stand after movies were done for the night.

An employee found the wrappers scattered in the lobby and confronted them at which point they denied taking anything. The employee said he was going back to watch camera footage, at which time they took off with a female.

“This case is an example of how we work every case reported to us, whether it’s a petty theft, or a more serious crime,” said Keller.

Video of the incident and photos of the indiciduals are available below

The second case occurred around 3 a.m. on October 23, 2024, at the NP Mart near 28th and “O” Street.

Keller says three adults entered the shop, when the black male was asked to show ID in order to play a game machine. The man refused.

When the employee informed him he couldn’t get any cash rewards without an ID, the man reportedly began making threatening statements towards her and refused to exit the store until police were called.

He left before police arrived, but LPD is still trying to make contact with him. He was seen arriving as a passenger in a blue Chevy Equinox with Woodhouse dealer plates.

LPD contacted Woodhouse, but they did not have in their records any cars with that description being sold lately. Investigators now suspect the dealer plates could have been stolen from another vehicle.

The other man and woman who accompanied him in the store are not accused of any crime. However, police are interested in speaking with any of the individuals or learning more about the vehicle in question, hoping to determine the identity of the person of interest.

Photos are available below.
