LPD Says Drunk Driver Caused Crash That Injured Six People

Lincoln Police say a suspected drunk driver is to blame for a two vehicle crash Saturday night at Highway 77 and Warlick Blvd.  Police say the driver of a Kia Spectra failed to yield the right of way while trying to turn onto Warlick Blvd and and was t-boned by a Toyota Corolla.

The Corolla then left the road and struck a street camera pole.  Three people in the Toyota were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated.  The driver and two passengers in the Kia were thrown from the car.

All six people were taken to a hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.  LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says the driver of the Kia, 37-year-old Amarian Laing of Lincoln, suffered a broken neck.

He is also facing a long list of charges, including DUI, failure to yield, no proof of insurance and no valid registration.  Both vehicles were totaled.
