By Nate Rohr Oct 19, 2024 | 4:24 PM

24 hours. Two cities. Two matches. Two sweeps.

Less than 24 hours after dispatching Michigan State in East Lansing, No. 2 Nebraska swept Ohio State in Columbus, 25-18, 25-18, 25-16, Saturday. The victory was Nebraska’s (18-1, 8-0 Big Ten) 15th straight and 13th sweep of the season. The Huskers have won 33 of their last 37 sets since a five-set thriller against Creighton Sept. 10. Over the winning streak, Nebraska has captured 45 of 50 sets.

Harper Murray led the Huskers with 14 kills while hitting .394. Merritt Beason added 13 kills with a team-leading six blocks. Nebraska outhit Ohio State, .369-.144, while outblocking them 9-3.

Not only did Nebraska sweep the match, but the Huskers didn’t trail in the final two sets and were only tied twice over the final two sets, both in the second. The Buckeyes led early in set one, 7-6, but never led again in the match after six straight points by Nebraska, five with Beason serving. In the second set, OSU had the set tied at one and two, but were never even with the Huskers again as NU rolled to the set two triumph. The Huskers erased all doubt from set three, winning 10 of the first 11 rallies to lead 10-1 and never look back en route to an easy three-set win.

Nebraska will now prepare to take on Illinois Friday at the Devaney Center at 7 p.m. Pregame coverage begins at 6 p.m. on KLIN.
