As the MLB playoffs begin today, three former Huskers prepare to compete in baseball’s postseason.
Jake Meyers was a mainstay in the Houston outfield, hitting .219 with 13 home runs and 61 RBI. Meyers has played six postseason games in his career, hitting .300 with two RBI and two runs in his prior postseason appearances.
Aaron Bummer is part of the Atlanta bullpen, pitching to a 4-3 record with a 3.53 ERA in 56 games with 69 strikeouts. Bummer is in postseason for the third time in his career, as he qualified with the White Sox in 2020 and 2021.
Cade Povich also advances to the playoffs with Baltimore as an MLB rookie. In his first year at the big league level, he was 3-9 with a 5.20 ERA.
Spencer Schwellenbach was left off the Braves’ wild-card series roster, as he started Monday in the next-to-last game of the regular season and would not be able to pitch in the three days of the wild card series. However, if Atlanta were to make it to the NLDS, Schwellenbach would be likely to be on the roster.
