Homicide Fugitive Arrested by LPD Sunday Evening

By Mark Vail Sep 30, 2024 | 5:44 AM

A man wanted for murder in Colorado was arrested in Lincoln Sunday night.  LPD Lt. Jason Goodwin tells KLIN News officers were sent to 17th and Washington around 8:15 for a private property accident that led to a disturbance.

“Officers contacted several people and one male provided a false name,” Goodwin says.  “When officers continued to question the man, he eventually gave his real name and said he had warrants.” When officers tried to arrest him, Goodwin says he pushed away from officers and ran.

“With the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol helicopter, 30-year-old, Zachary Rice was apprehended near S. 20th and A Street,” Goodwin says.  Rice was wanted on a fugitive from justice warrant for homicide out of Denver Colorado.
