Nebraska senior forward Alexis Markowski was selected as one of the players to watch in the Big Ten, as a preseason All-Big Ten honoree, the conference office announced Thursday. Markowski was one of 11 players named to the list by Big Ten coaches and one of 10 players named to the list by Big Ten media.
A Lincoln native, Markowski earned Big Ten Player to Watch honors from the conference for the third time in her career. She’s scored 1,363 points in her Husker career and has pulled down 956 rebounds in her career. She enters her senior season just 44 rebounds away from becoming the sixth 1,000-rebound player in Nebraska women’s basketball history. Last year, Markowski averaged 15.7 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game while earning first-team All-Big Ten honors and leading Nebraska to the NCAA Tournament and the Big Ten Tournament finals.
Led by unanimous preseason Big Ten Player of the Year JuJU Watkins, the Big Ten coaches and media selected USC as the preseason favorite to win the conference.
