LES Crews Heading To Georgia Ahead Of Hurricane Helene

By Tom Stanton Sep 25, 2024 | 2:42 PM

Lincoln Electric System crews loaded up several trucks at noon on Wednesday and headed to Georgia to help utility companies there with anticipated power restoration efforts caused by Hurricane Helene.

The storm is expected to make landfall on Thursday and utilities in the storm’s path are pre-staging restoration workers and equipment and coordinating response efforts with their state and local officials.

“We learned firsthand all the difference mutual aid support can make when we dealt with the aftermath of the July 31 storm in Lincoln, our first call for mutual aid support in nine years,” says Paul Crist, LES vice president of Energy Delivery. “Power restoration is demanding and stretches resources thin, and LES is proud to return the support to another community in need.”

The two crews comprised of 12 employees are expected to arrive in Georgia Thursday evening. They are taking three bucket trucks and three trucks that allow crews to dig and set power poles. Six employees from Grand Island are traveling with LES to assist in restoration efforts.
