Lancaster County Election Office Finds Over 200 Voter Precinct Errors

By Chase Porter Sep 24, 2024 | 6:30 AM

The Lancaster County Election Commission will be mailing notices to more than 200 voters after errors were noticed and corrected in the Nebraska voter registration system.

Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen says the errors were noticed during an extensive review of the county’s street-file system, which is used by the Election Commission to assign voters to the precincts in which they live, ensuring that voters get the correct ballot for their residence.

It is believed the errors occurred when either the Street File was manually updated during redistricting in 2021 or when the properties were annexed and developed. Approximately 0.1% of registered voters in Lancaster County are effected

Notices of these changes were mailed to all the voters impacted. Affected voters should expect to receive written notification and new voter registration cards.

It will identify their new polling place for the upcoming Presidential Election on November 5th. If they request an early vote ballot by-mail, they will be mailed the correct ballot.

Voters may confirm their polling location on the Nebraska Voter Information Lookup website at votercheck.necvr.ne.gov.
