No. 5 Nebraska (8-1) closed an undefeated week by hammering Wichita State, 25-13, 25-12, 25-12, Saturday at the Devaney Center. That closed a 3-0 week for the Huskers ahead of Nebraska’s monster matchup with No. 2 Stanford Wednesday.
The Huskers never trailed in any of the three sets, outhit the Shockers .477-.096 and racked up 50 kills to WSU’s 27. Harper Murray led the Nebraska attack with 14 kills, Merritt Beason and Andi Jackson both added 10. Bergen Reilly tallied 35 set assists while Beason added two aces. Emerson Wilford led Wichita State with 12 kills.
The Huskers enter the big matchup with the Cardinal on a five-match winning streak. It’s the fourth straight year Nebraska and Stanford will meet. Last year’s went to the Huskers in four sets after Stanford had beaten Nebraska five straight times including the 2018 national championship match.
