Artwork and flowers will paint a vibrant scene this Saturday, September 14, for the 12th annual Art in the Garden show, hosted at the iconic Sunken Gardens on 26th and ‘D’ Street.
The colorful 1.5 acre garden in the heart of the capital city will teem with more than 50 artists displaying their works for sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — under this year’s theme ‘Golden Hour!’ in reference to sunrise and sunset.
“We’ll have paintings, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, photography, small items to large items. Prices will vary, but it’s affordable… The gardens are beautiful. The koi fish, of course, are beautiful. The garden is gorgeous, and it’s a perfect setting for some great art,” said Sandie Caradori, an event organizer and local artist affiliated with Clements Noys Art Gallery — who have organized this event since it began.
Along side the show, attendees can enjoy live music, food trucks, and dance performances.
“It’s a little bit of everything,” Caradori added. “Art in The Garden often attracts people that don’t typically go to a gallery, but here they’ll get to see gallery type art. People that will walk around and comment on the artist’s work. Whether good or bad, they’re happy to be there. It’s just a happy place and it brings everybody together.”
Donations for the garden are accepted via the donation posts located on the north and south entrances of the garden or donations can be made online at lincolnparks.org.
Free parking is available on the nearby residential streets, in the small lot located at 26th and D Streets, and parking lot across 27th street (near the Children’s Zoo).
