Lincoln Fire & Rescue battled a detached garage fire near Northwest 27th and West “O” Street early Wednesday morning.

When crews arrived, LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman tells KLIN News, the garage was fully engulfed in flames. Crews immediately took a defensive approach, verified everyone in the area was safe, and took action to prevent the fire from spreading.

“They got it under control pretty quickly,” said Lierman. “Our crews deployed hose lines and got water on the fire right away.”

Battalion Chief Aaron Pospisil told KLIN media partner 10/11 Now that firefighters were able to protect a section of mobile homes along West Q Street from catching fire, and the flames took roughly 30 to 45 minutes to put out.

The garage is likely a complete loss, and the estimated cost of the damage to the garage is $75,000. Its unknown how many items within the garage were destroyed.

What sparked the fire is under investigation at this time. There were no reported injuries.
