As if Saturday’s game against Colorado needed any more hype, for the first time since 2021, Nebraska will be distributing free red balloons to fans to be released after the first touchdown.
In a statement, the NU Athletic Department said it “will consider bringing back the balloons for select special occasions.”
The tradition was eliminated before the 2022 season, with then-athletic director Trev Alberts siting helium shortages and environmental concerns.
