The 43rd “All Makes Auto and Truck Show” hosted by the Capitol City Ford and Mustang Club is set for this Sunday, September 8, on Southeast Community College-East Campus (8800 “O” Street).
“This is an all make show,” reiterated Dan Zichek, Promotions Coordinator with the Capital City Ford and Mustang Club and longtime member. “So you’re going to see lots of different things. Hundreds of cars and trucks, old ones, new ones, some shiny, and some rat-rods that may not be so shiny.”
Shiny and not-so-shiny cars alike will line up in SCC’s parking lot from 8AM to 4PM. The event is family friendly with activities for kids, face painting, and the fabled “balloon man.” The Knights of Columbus will be on the grill — slinging burgers, hot dogs, and brats — along side multiple food trucks and vendors.
Of particular interest, Zichek says, the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed will be bring out the 10,000,000th Ford Model T for display. This historic car was the subject of national media coverage back in June when it made a coast-to-coast trip from New York to San Francisco via the Lincoln Highway, making pit stopped in Lincoln.
Admission is free for spectators. Those wanting to display a car still have time to pre-register at eventmoto.com/events/amats. Registration is $20 on or before September 7, and $30 day-of. Judging is limited to the first 300 vehicles. There will also be a non-judged ‘Show and Shine’ class — registration runs $10.
Proceeds from the car show will go to benefit the Lincoln First Responders foundation. “We raised over $12,000 last year for this foundation, and it looks like there’s great weather forecast for this weekend, so we hope to beat that this year,” said Zichek.
