LPD Releases “O” Street Traffic Safety Results

By Tom Stanton Sep 4, 2024 | 12:21 PM

Lincoln Police have released results of a summer long traffic safety project that focused on “O” Street.  The annual enforcement effort ran May 24-August 31 and occurred on nights and weekends between 17th and 98th streets.

“The project was in response to numerous reports and complaints of reckless driving, loud vehicles and deadly crashes on “O” Street,” says LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas.  A grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation-Highway Safety Office allowed more officers to patrol “O” Street.

During the campaign, LPD officers conducted 889 traffic stops and issued 779 citations, including 257 for speeding.  59 drivers were cited for no insurance and 17 seatbelt citations were issued. There were also drivers ticketed for reckless driving.
