Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The freshman quarterback debuted in college football with a flourish, throwing 19-for-26 for 238 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in the season opener against UTEP Saturday at Memorial Stadium. He became just the second true freshman quarterback to start for Nebraska in the opening game of the season, joining Adrian Martinez in 2018. He became the first true freshman to start at QB and win the opener since World War II.
Raiola became the first Husker freshman to earn conference Freshman of the Week since Malcolm Hartzog, Jr., in 2022, and the first Husker on the offensive side of the ball to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week since Wan’dale Robinson in 2019.
