Lincoln Police are encouraging residents to check their cash closely for signs of counterfeit bills.   Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says they are investigating four incidents of bogus bills at local businesses in the past week.

On August 22nd LPD took a report of a counterfeit $100 bill that had been deposited at Cornhusker Bank at 56th and South.    This past Tuesday there three other incidents.  “A counterfeit $20 bill was used in a Scooter’s drive-thru near 48th and Adams and another counterfeit $20 bill was discovered in the deposit from Jimmy John’s at Pinnacle Bank near 40th Street and Normal.”

In addition, someone tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill at G & J Smokeshop near 31st and O streets.   Thomas says if you notice something isn’t right call them and file a report.
