Lincoln Fire and Rescue says the cardboard fire at a downtown recycling business Thursday afternoon caused $30,000 in damage.  The fire broke out at Green Quest Recycling near 6th and J around 2:3o.

“The employees had a quick response with some fire extinguishers and quickly called LFR,” says Public Information Officer MJ Lierman.  We got here and the fire was spreading, due to the wind conditions and the cardboard materials being flammable, highly flammable. We upgraded to get more crews here.

Crews were eventually able to foam the cardboard to prevent further spread.  Lierman says the exact cause of the fire is unknown.
