Lancaster County Engineers will be hosting an upcoming open house on the construction of a mile-long two-lane roadway connecting existing segments of South 98th Street from ‘O’ St to ‘A’ Street.
The open house will be held Tuesday, August 27, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at East High School (1000 S 70th Street, Lincoln, NE 68510).
The proposed project would construct one mile of new, median-divided, two-lane roadway that would be a segment of S 98th St between ‘A’ Street and ‘O’ Street, east of the Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln, Nebraska. The goal is to provide a modern roadway that reduces existing and forecasted congestion and enhances continuity on the S. 98th Street corridor.
The improvements on this project consist of:
- Grading for a median-divided, two-lane roadway
- Placing storm drainage system structures
- Installing culvert pipes
- Pavement for a rural roadway section: two 12-foot-wide paved lanes and 8-foot-wide shoulders (2 feet of the shoulder would be surfaced).
- Constructing a roundabout at the intersection of S. 98th and ‘A’ Street.
- Widening the right lane of a section of ‘O’ Street at the intersection of ‘O’ Street and S 98th Street.
All interested persons are invited to attend the open house and present relevant comments and questions.
Additional project information will be displayed and personnel from Lancaster County Engineering will be present to answer questions and receive comments. If required, a public hearing is tentatively planned to be held in a centralized public location in Spring 2025.
