A terrifying ordeal for a Lincoln teenager Saturday afternoon. LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says the girl was on the Rock Island Trail near S.14th and Mockingbird around 3:45.  “A 16-year-old female told officers a man had propositioned her and kept following her. The teenager screamed and attempted to run away but tripped and fell to the ground.”

Thomas says the man grabbed her leg but she was able to get up and run away.  Residents living nearby says the man attempting to run away and confronted him. He ultimately left the area. “The victim had recorded a video of the suspect following her and offering her money,” Thomas says.

Officers were able to find 26-year-old Zabihullah Armani along the trail and took him into custody around 6:45 p.m.  Officers found 0.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine on him.  He was taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for attempted 2nd degree sexual assault and possession of a controlled substance.

“We want to commend the victim in this case for her alertness in removing her headphones for awareness when she became concerned about Armani’s presence on the trail near her and for recording a video of the suspect’s interaction with her that aided officers in locating and apprehending the suspect,” Thomas says.
