Day 1 of the Lancaster County Super Fair kicked off today at the Sandhill’s Global Event Center.
Fortunately, strong storms that rocked Lincoln the night prior didn’t create much damage on the fairground. A few porta-potties and tents were tossed around by the 80+ mph winds, says Spokesperson Gina Nathan tells KLIN News, “But other than that, no major damage.”
Unhampered by the storms, the fairgrounds schedule will be packed for the next 10-days.
Some new attractions this year:
- AuctionTime Grandstand Arena now 6 nights – FREE General Admission for kids 12 & under at all events
- Free Music Series 6 event nights in our Beer Garden
- Hispanic Festival Now an all day event – Sunday August 4th from Noon to 10pm
- “Cool Zoo” Reptile Show
- Hedricks Racing Pigs – back by popular demand
- Nebraska Bush Pullers Tractor Pull
- Extreme Bull Riding Tour – now TWO nights
If you don’t want to miss any of the animal attraction, Nathan recommends getting out to the fair sooner rather than later.
“All the kids always want to see the animals, and we have a ton of animals here, but many of them will only be here for the first four days,” said Nathan. “After those first four days, we won’t have as many animals here. We’ll still have the petting zoo, and of course our free attractions with the reptile and wildlife.”
Many families will be attending the fair for multiple days through August 10th. Nathan reminds visitors to stay hydrated and make sure to bring sunscreen. There are plenty of shaded areas available on the fairground. There is be a clear bag policy in the carnival area, and non-see-through bags will be subject to search.
