Two Men Sought In Series Of ATM Vandalisms

By Tom Stanton Jul 30, 2024 | 2:16 PM

Lincoln Police are investigating a series of ATM vandalisms early Tuesday morning on the east side of the City.  LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas tells KLIN the first incident happened at Union Bank and Trust near 70th and Pioneers Blvd just before 4:00 a.m.

“The ATM on the south side of the building was found heavily damaged, dented and non-functional, causing an estimated $45,000 in damage,” Thomas says.   Surveillance video showed a silver older model Hyundai sedan arrive and two men wearing black clothing with masks and blue gloves attempting to pry open the ATM

They also hit it with a sledgehammer.  About ten minutes later officers were called to the BMO Bank at 52nd and ‘O’ where they found another damaged ATV.   “That damage was consistent with being stuck with a sledgehammer and pry marks, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage,” Thomas says.

About an hour later an ATM at Union Bank near 48th and Dudley was found with a broken lower panel.  Thomas says paperwork from the ATM was found nearby along with a yellow-handled
sledgehammer.  There was about $5,000 in damage.

The license plate number of the suspect’s vehicle is “8993ACH” and is believed to be out of Kansas.   Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
