This afternoon isolated thunderstorms are possible across east-central Nebraska and southwest Iowa. If storms develop, some may be strong to severe with winds up to 60 miles per hour and hail up to the size of quarters being the main threat.

A brief tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Late this evening, after 7 PM, a line of storms may clip northeast Nebraska bringing the potential for strong winds of 50 to 60 miles per hour.

Afternoon heat indices Monday through Wednesday will range from 100 to 110 across much of the area.
