The Lincoln Police Department will be conducting a traffic enforcement project focused on speeding July 11-31 Additional officers will patrol areas that have high numbers of vehicle crashes and that have generated many complaints regarding speeding vehicles.
The project coincides with the national Speeding Prevention Driving Enforcement Program and is made possible by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
Speed was a factor in 12,151 traffic fatalities in the nation in 2022. “Excessive speeds lead to more violent crashes on our roadways and the greater potential for serious injury or loss of life,” says Sergeant Sara Genoways, LPD Traffic Unit Supervisor. “This means that speeding has a direct impact on our community and we need the community’s help to make a difference.”
