A 24-year-old man was arrested after police say he pointed a gun at someone near 64th and Adams just before 5:00 Monday afternoon. LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says the suspect then got into a red Dodge Journey and sped off.
“A short time later, another officer spotted the vehicle at the Kwik Shop at 44th and O Streets,” Thomas says. “Officers approached the vehicle where the suspect was standing next to the open driver’s side door and despite several loud verbal commands, the suspect did not comply with officer instructions to get on the ground and began to reenter the vehicle.”
Thomas says officers took John Thompson III to the ground and placed him in custody. She says a black air gun was found in the driver’s seat. “While in custody, the suspect failed a preliminary breath test and showed signs of impairment.”
Thompson III was taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for first offense DUI, obstructing a police officer, resisting arrest and refusal to submit to a test.
