The Heat Advisory from the National Weather Service from 1 pm to 7 pm Tuesday predicts heat index values could be near 107 degrees this afternoon which has prompted the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department to issue an update and advise residents to be cautious.
Heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke can be deadly and anyone suffering from such conditions should be moved to shade or air conditioning. Heat stroke symptoms include hot and red skin, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, confusion and passing out. Emergency medical assistance should be called if these conditions persist.
