A 27-year-old Detroit man escaped serious injury after his motorcycle was struck by a truck east of Waverly around 5:00 Monday morning. “At about 162nd and Highway 6 a pup-trailer did strike that motorcycle, didn’t see it from behind,” says Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.
He explains the reason why the truck driver had trouble seeing the motorcycle. “He had duct-taped flashlights to the front and back of his motorcycle and at 5:00 in the morning that is not a good way to do it,” Houchin says.
He says the motorcycle wasn’t hit very hard, but knocked the rider off of it. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Houchin says he was cited for improper lighting and no insurance. The truck driver was not hurt.
