Nebraska Task Force One Responding To New Mexico Wildfires

By Tom Stanton Jun 21, 2024 | 2:40 PM

As two wildfires continue to burn in new Mexico help is on the way from Lincoln.  LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says Nebraska Task Force One has sent Battalion Chief Brad Thavenet and three K9 teams.

” They haven’t been given an assignment as of yet and there are no unmet needs or resource requests.”  She says Thavenet has responded a lot of disasters as part of FEMA’s Incident Support Team in recent years,  including the deadly fires in Lahaina, Hawaii.

The fires have burned more than 23,000 acres of land, destroyed more than 1,400 buildings and left two people dead.
