Pius X High School has announced, Jared DeMers will lead their girls golf team as the programs new head coach.
DeMers played golf at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, and has taught golf as a pro at Highs Golf Course for the past seven years. DeMers will join Pius X as a teacher this fall.
“To say I am extremely blessed to be given this opportunity to teach and coach at a school like Pius is an understatement,” Demers said. “I look forward to beginning our journey growing our faith together through such an incredible sport.”
“Jared has a great record of teaching golf locally, and played competitively in high school and college,” said Tim Aylward, interim Activities Director at Pius X. “We’re excited to have him on our staff.”
Earlier this year, Pius X named Brett Balak as their new head coach for boys golf. Balak served as golf coach for the men’s program at Nebraska Wesleyan University for 22 years, where he coached the team to a national title in 2006, and led the program to eight top 10 finishes at the national tournament. He also served as an assistant and then head coach for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
