A 21-year-old man is facing a number of charges after Lincoln Police says he fled from officers in a stolen car. Captain Todd Kocian says the vehicle was stolen from a parking lot near 70th and Teton on June 12.
An officer spotted the car around 7:15 Sunday night following a disturbance near 18th and Knox. The car took off when the officer got out to talk to the driver. “The NSP AirWing was up and began monitoring the vehicle’s movement,” Kocian says.
“A short time later another officer attempted to stop the vehicle at 21 & ‘A’ Streets. The vehicle once again fled.” The car came to a stop near 16th & Knox. “Officers made contact at the residence and ultimately arrested 21-year-old Markel Wilson for theft by receiving stolen property, flee to avoid arrest, and willful reckless driving.
He was also cited & released for no operators license and possession of an open alcohol container.
