Two People Seriously Injured In Crash North Of Lincoln

By Tom Stanton Jun 11, 2024 | 2:19 PM

Two drivers were taken to the hospital after a crash at Highway 77 and Waverly Road just after 9:00 Tuesday morning.  Lancaster County Sheriff’s Captain John Vik tells KLIN News an eastbound Kia Sorento failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a southbound Chevy Trailblazer.

“Fortunately, both of the drivers were wearing seat belts,” Vik says. “They were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.”  He says the driver of the Sorento was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way.

“In this case the driver pulled up to the stop sign, looked both ways, waited for some other vehicles to clear, but for whatever reason didn’t see the vehicle that they ended up colliding with.”  Vik says it’s a reminder that you should look both ways two or three times before pulling out onto a major highway.

Vik says the driver of the Trailblazer was issued a citation for not having insurance or registration in their vehicle.
