Changes are on the horizon for northeast Lincoln’s University Place Neighborhood, and the city Planning Department would like your input.
Residents are invited to an open house next Tuesday, June 11, to offer feedback for the “University Place Subarea Plan.” The event will be hosted at the First United Methodist Church (2723 N. 50th St.) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The University Place Subarea Plan aims to present a strategic vision for the neighborhood and provide a framework for achieving that vision. The plan will address a variety of topics including land use, housing, transportation, economic development, appearance and placemaking, and other community enhancements.
When completed, the University Place Subarea Plan will be adopted as part of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Comprehensive Plan, which features other subarea plans like the Downtown Master Plan, North 33rd and Cornhusker Subarea Plan, and the South Haymarket Neighborhood Plan.
The open house will include interactive stations with staff from the Lincoln-Lancaster Planning Department and other City departments to discuss topics and answer questions. Sandwiches and other refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome. Attendees should enter through the north doors. The accessible access with elevator is on the east side.
For those unable to attend the in-person event, an on-demand virtual open house is available until July 31, offering a remote look at the content of the public open house.
