A 74-year-old Lincoln woman has passed away hours after she was pronounced dead at a Waverly nursing home only to be found alive at a Lincoln funeral home. “I am sad to say that at approximately 4:00 p.m. yesterday Constance Glantz passed away at a local hospital,” says Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.
Houchin says Glantz was pronounced dead around 9:45 Monday morning at the Mulberry nursing home where she was in hospice care. LFR was then called to Butherius, Maser and Love funeral home two hours later. As her body was being prepared for funeral services, Houchin says an employee noticed she was still breathing and called 911.
“I can’t imagine what her family has went through and we’re really, really sorry for them to have to do that,” Houchin says. Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon ordered an autopsy and it was conducted Tuesday morning. Houchin says it could take up to 12 weeks for the autopsy results to be completed.
