By Tom Stanton May 31, 2024 | 11:39 AM

A California man ended up in the Lancaster County Jail following a traffic stop on I-80 near the Lincoln airport Thursday morning.  Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says members of the Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped the Subaru for following too close, lane violation and obstruction to his license plate.

Houchin says the vehicle was rented and had Wyoming license plates.  When speaking to the driver, deputies detected a strong odor of raw marijuana. “A probable cause search was performed by members of the unit and 91 pounds of marijuana was found in a hockey bag in the back hatch area.” Houchin says.

“Also located was 2.2 grams of crack cocaine in a cooler that was on the front passenger floorboard.”  57-year-old Jon Montoya of Roseville, California was booked for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of cocaine and evading a drug stamp.
