Lincoln Police have released results of it’s Memorial Day weekend traffic safety project. On-duty and additional officers patrolled “O” Street from 17th to 84th streets from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday to reduce and respond to unsafe driving behaviors, trespassing, littering, noise violations and alcohol-related violations.
There were a total of 209 traffic stops and 185 citations issued. 49 drivers were ticketed for speeding and 11 more for reckless driving. 20 citations were issued for unnecessary noise only two seatbelt citations were issued.
Other results include 37 registration violations and five for violating traffic signals. The project was funded by a grant from the Nebraska Department o Transportation.
