Three juveniles were sent to the hospital Monday night after a UTV vehicle flipped onto it’s side southeast of Lincoln.
Lancaster County Sherriff’s Captain John Vik tells KLIN News, deputies were called to the area of 120th and Pioneers Blvd. around 9:43 p.m. and found a group of juveniles who had been riding a Polaris Ranger style UTV, fitted with front seats and a shallow truck bed.
While riding the UTV on nearby private property, deputies believe the group came upon kind of a small ravine with a change in elevation, causing the UTV to turn onto it’s side.
There were five occupants in the vehicle when the crash occurred, three of them were taken to a local hospital and the other two were treated at the scene of the crash. None of the injuries were life threatening. No citations that were issued.
Captain Vik said this unfortunate incident serves as a reminder to practice safety when operating these types of vehicles.
“Especially when juveniles are driving, we’ve got to make sure they’re familiar with the equipment, make sure they’re familiar in the area that they’re driving in, and certainly to use occupant restraint systems like seatbelts and helmets,” said Vik.
